Welcome to Spezio's Dance Dynamics!

Amherst's Leading Dance Education Program instilling poise, grace, self-confidence, discipline, artistry and fun!

"It is our mission to assist each dancer in pursuing their personal dance goals while focusing on artistry, expression and excellence. Of course, dance is an art form that requires rigorous study, but in doing so, dancers learn valuable life lessons. We work to provide each dancer with an education that instills poise, grace, self confidence and more importantly memories and friendships to last a lifetime."

Michelle Spezio Ferm, B.A. Certified by "Test to Teach", Member Dance Master's of America, 22 Years Dance Educator.

Spezio's Dance Dynamics was recently featured in Dance Studio Life Magazine May 2009

Dance Dynamics has professional faculty of more than 14 instructors with significant experience in dance education. Every member of our staff is educated to teach by holding a B.A., B.F.A, Certified by Dance Master's of America "Test to Teach" a four year extensive educational program, or pursuing their degree. We are proud to also have Mr. Jon Lehrer, formerly Associate Director of Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago for 11 years, and now Director of the LehrerDance Co teaching at the school.

Dance Dynamics is focused on not only teaching younger students in a proper progression of skill development but also has an Ensemble' Performance Troupe. We work diligently, with all students, to enhance a child's academic pursuits by engaging their mind and body, master execution, proper alignment, artistry, expression, strength, ability to adapt and overcome, and the "drive and discipline" that is gained form the study of dance.

The goal of the school is to educate classically trained dancers who are well rounded and adaptable to many challenges. We have many students who pursue dance at the college level, but also have students who have gained valuable experience from the study of dance that are working in their personal area of study. All our graduates have attended 4 year Universities, many with honors, many pursue dual degrees and 40% go on to graduate school.

Recital Update !

“DANCIN’ WITH FRIENDS”   IS HERE !!!!

TICKETS …

If you have an outstanding balance due on your account, your recital tickets have been held.  You can pick them up at the Flower Table at the front of the theater before the recital, by bringing your final tuition payment to the volunteer there.

PLEASE NOTE:  ALL THREE RECITALS ARE SOLD OUT !!!!

The response for tickets was overwhelming.  We are asking that if you have tickets that you will not be using to please turn them in at the front of the theater with your name on them.  If we are able to sell the ticket, we will refund your payment.  Please do this as it is our only way to offer tickets to families desparately looking for tickets.  If possible, please email the studio to let us know you have extras.

If you are in need of tickets, please email the studio by Thursday evening at 9 PM with the number you are looking for and which show, if we have know of any extras available, we will get back to you asap.

BACKSTAGE MOMS …

Thank you to all our moms who have already signed, the show could never go on without your help !!!  Please take pride knowing that you helped put on a successful, organized show for your family and friends.  Once your group is lined up to go on stage by a Line Up mom or faculty member, you will be able to go upstairs into the audience to watch your child dance onstage at the rehearsal and recital.  So volunteering does not mean that you won’t get to see your child dance onstage, you will !!  You just need to come back down after to meet up with your group.

Backstage Moms are needed to help out at rehearsal and for the entirety of the recital your child is in.  Your job as chaperone is very important and we are counting on you.  We ask that you check dancers for correct costumes, hairpieces, accessories.  Dancers with costume changes will need your assistance.  There will be a live feed of the recital into the dancers area so the dancers can watch what’s going on.  We will also have coloring books and crayons.  If you would like to bring something along to keep your group occupied, you are welcome to, but it is not required.

The safety of our dancers is our number one priority.  Please help by cleaning up the areas and keeping an eye out for any unsafe behavior from dancers of any group. In the unlikely event of a fire drill, we ask that you keep your group together once exiting the building.  Other parents may join your group, but please ask them to stay with you as that will allow us to keep track of all groups.  The faculty will give out any special instructions at that time should the need arise.

If you would like to join our team and volunteer to help us as a Backstage Mom, please email Miss Sarah at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it as soon as possible.

A few parent reminders …

  • NO photography or videotaping of the recitals of any kind.  Buff State security will confiscate any cameras that are seen taking photos or video.  The show is copyrighted, a video can be purchased of the recital.
  • Please be courteous to your neighbors, remains seated during dances as they may be watching their child onstage or you might block a professional videographer.
  • Buffalo State PAC is gracious to allow us to use their facilities, please be courteous of their staff and rules.
  • No food or drink in the auditorium at any time.
  • Once the recital begins, the backstage area is locked down to only dancers and chaperones.  Additional parents will only be allowed into the dancer’s area with a Backstage Mom pass.  If you feel one is necessary, please contact the office for a Backstage Mom pass.  Again, this policy is for organization and the safety of all our dancers.  Your understanding and knowledge of this policy is appreciated.
  • Please allow adequate time for parking, there is some construction going on in upper floors of Rockwell Hall, because of this, some usual parking lots are not fully available.

A few dancer reminders …

  • Do not bring valuables with you, the studio/Buff State is not responsible for lost/stolen items.
  • NO TAP SHOES anywhere except on the stage, please bring alternate footwear.
  • Put YOUR NAME on everything, dance shoes, street shoes, costumes, dance bag, anything you bring with you.
  • No bright colored nailpolish or jewelry is to be worn unless it came with your costume.
  • Hair should be neat and smooth.  Use gel or spray to contain any whispies.
  • Dancers should be wearing a heavier stage make up so that their features show up on stage … red lipstick, eye liner and blush are a must to avoid looking like Casper the friendly ghost !!
  • Dancers can bring a neat activity such as a book or game for the time they are waiting to go onstage.
  • Water and a PEANUT FREE neat snack can be packed if you would like.
  • Dancers will be chaperoned at all times, either in their seating area, when traveling to the lavatories.  Line up moms or faculty will chaperone when taking dancers up to the stage area.
  • Please clean up any messes that may occur, our faculty is required to clean up all dancers areas after the show.

AFTER RECITAL DISMISSAL …

Please note the safety and security is our upmost priority.  Please familiarize yourself with our policies to avoid any stress or confusion at the end of the show.

All dancers will be dismissed downstairs ONE AT A TIME after the show, starting with our youngest dancers.  We will not release a dancer until we locate their parent, so not to worry, but this does take time.  We do not allow parents into the backstage area at this time to avoid confusion and chaos.  Please be patient!

Tables will be set up at the end of the Stage Right and Stage Left hallways.  Once the dancers have come down from the stage, they will be walked to these tables by a class assistant or line up mom.  From these tables, we will locate each parent and release the dancers.

Your patience and kindness is appreciated, this process is the only way we can assure that each child calmly finds a parent.  Your child will have a chaperone/class assistant with them until we match them up with their parent, we know that it takes time to get out of the auditorium.  We thank you for your patience and understanding.

WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO A FABULOUS 19TH RECITAL, DANCIN’ WITH FRIENDS !!!!!  THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF THE SPEZIO’S DANCE DYNAMICS FAMILY !!!

ENJOY THE SHOW !!!!
